Believed to be one of just six M740-coded examples, this car was displayed at official Porsche events and motoring exhibitions during the model's launch phase. This example was also kept and owned by Porsche AG for the first 20,000 KM’s prior to being selectively sold to a renowned German Aristocrat / socialite to be seen around Germany as the car’s first owner, post factory. This RS is also one of the earliest numbered cars known to exist worldwide from the RS database, outside of the Porsche Museum. Supplied with period documentation, including letters from Porsche and former owners, as well as a dated Porsche "Press & PR" release titled “The Rebirth of a Legend”, this example presents a valuable piece of 911 RS development and marketing history. The Carrera RS was introduced for the European market in 1991 as a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive variant of the 964, directly inspired by the 911 Carrera Cup race car and carrying DNA from earlier RS and RSR models. Built around the M64/03 flat-six, the RS produced 260PS (256bhp), paired with a single-mass flywheel and the G50/10 close-ratio transmission featuring steel synchromesh and asymmetrical LSD. In addition to its reworked drivetrain, the RS was equipped with a stripped-back interior, firmer suspension with 40mm lower ride height, stiffer springs, adjustable anti-roll bars, and no power steering. It represented a no-compromise driver’s car built for road and track. A total of 2,276 964 Carrera RS units were produced, of which 1,910 were “Basic” or “Lightweight” specification. This M740-coded example, however, stands apart with its unique provenance and early factory presentation history, making it one of the most significant and desirable 964 RS cars to reach the market. Available for viewing by appointment at JZM.

JZM, the brand and purpose JZM’s origins begin in 1983 driven by a passion for the very special 911 sports car developed and refined over 60 years. A passion that has not wavered, we love Porsche as superfans do, after all three quarters of them are still on the road today. Our thing is – all the best bits – Porsche GT’s, RS’s, special models, rare beasts and exemplary examples are our niche. We are here to keep these beautiful things on the road, running at their supreme best. JZM Service Porsche love being looked after in the correct way with the ‘TLC’ Hans Mezger would approve of. We were around in the early days and still apply our knowledge and experience to every car we handle. For us servicing a Porsche is to look after an automotive thoroughbred. JZM Fine Tuning With such a highly refined car as a Porsche, there are few margins for improvement. We can tailor a car for your driving aspirations and over the years we’ve tried almost everything, which informs us of what works and what doesn’t. Our experience is a tuning fast-lane to your Porsche expectations and wishes come true. JZM Future There’s not a Porsche we haven’t relished engaging with, and there are a few tricky ones but, even as petrolheads the latest Taycan is testament to the Porsche DNA we understand and love. The GT’s of all eras are in our blood and we continue to cherish and nurture these fabulous driving machines. JZM Commitment We’re honest and as up front as we can be, we tell it how it is. A car is made up of thousands of moving parts and electronics, they’re complicated enough. Every Porsche at JZM is treated as a favourite – a bold statement and a big commitment, but after 40 years in we’re in too deep to get this passionate about anything else. Machtech 1983 Machtech opened the doors in 1983 as Bosch petrol injection and diagnostic specialists. Steve McHale became one of the first of very few Bosch Systems Technicians in the UK. Accredited Bosch service agents Machtech were trained specialists in Bosch D-Jetronic, K-Jetronic, KE-, L-, LE-, LH- and Motronic engine management systems. During the 1980’s and ’90’s Steve competed against Brundell’s Andy Rouse, Stirling Moss, Tiff Needell, John Cleland, Gerry Marshall, Tony Lanfranchi, Barry Williams, Steve Soper and many more in the Willhire 24 hour races at Snetterton. We tuned Porsche’s for nearly all of the UK specialists that competed in Porsche racing during this period which was first sponsored by Giroflex seating then Bridgstone tyres and finally Pirelli. Machtech became UK agent for Michael Roock Sportsystem of Le Mans 24hr fame and over the years the connections and network grew to include Olaf Manthey (Manthey Racing), David Brodie (BBR), Barry Curtis (356 race specialist), Ansgar Wiesen (VGS Tuning) and Porsche Cars GB.
