By 1972 all Porsche six-cylinder engines had a capacity of 2,341cc, with variations in performance. The 911T retained its Solex-Zenith carburettors (in the European markets) with a power output of 130 bhp at 5.600 rpm. The new 911E and 911S were fitted with mechanical fuel injection and at 6,200 rpm, the 911E produced 165 bhp and the 911S produced 190 bhp. The increased performance and torque of the 2.4 911S could really be felt from 5,000 rpm (500 rpm sooner than the 2.2S) and the car now had a top speed of 230km/h (147mph).
